If you haven’t been hiding under a pillow for the last few months then you should have certainly heard this strange little word “strobing” floating about. Honestly strobing is just a fancy word for “highlighting” and its this years summer must have accessory thanks to some of our fav’s like Gigi Hadid & Kendall Jenner.
Now I know not everyone has time to chisel your faces to perfection everyday and contour for hours so this little summer trend might be exactly for you. I’ve always loved to highlight my face. Highlighters are like my thing to buy- it’s actually a problem but they make me super happy.
I find it’s a lot easier and I like to think less time consuming than contouring your entire face. So how are you going to do this? Easy Peasy. Instead of adding darker tones to accentuate your features we are now adding lighter tones to allow them to stand out. Strobing is essentially accentuating your features to achiever a beautiful, healthy and naturally radiant summer glow – and who doesn’t love that?
Down to some business. The main features to highlight are of course, the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, under the brow bone and cupid bows. You can also highlight your forehead and chin. Keep in mind that since we are accentuating our features, if you already have a large forehead and prefer it to look smaller, than highlighting this area isn’t the best idea.
The key is to build up the product to create the light effect. Too much will just look overdone, and too little wont show up enough. You need to find your healthy balance to achieve your best glow.
The most fun part about this whole technique is that you can mix your powder, cream and liquid products to create the perfect highlight.
